Peggy Joyce Whichard Woolard, age 86, a resident of Washington, died Monday, September 19, 2016 at River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Oakdale Cemetery and will be officiated by Reverend April Raines.

Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on June 8, 1930 to the late William Henry Whichard Sr., and Lizzie Elizabeth Mobley. In March 1950 she married Leon Joyner Woolard who preceded her in death on August 2, 1998. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to nursing home activities, gardening and especially cooking. Mrs. Woolard loved the Lord and made sure her family did too.

Survivors include, four children, Leon Taylor Woolard (Patricia) of Smithfield, Brenda Woolard Crumpler (Steve) of Mebane, Walter Wayne Woolard (Tina) of Goldsboro, Bennie Woolard (Angel Walston) of Farmville, three brothers, Billy, Warren, Bobby, one sister, Ginger, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Leon Joyner Woolard, a daughter, Loretta Woolard, and two sisters, Ruth and Gladys.

The family will receive friends at 204 Washington Harbor, Washington.
