Sgt. Cathy Fox and Officer Katelyn Mayo from the City of Washington’s Police Department were honored by the Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church under the leadership of Mary Cannon, women’s ministries leader.

Aug. 13 was Recognition Day at the Maranatha SDA Church for women officers of Washington Police and Fire Services departments. The theme: “Come On, Women, Let’s Go Forward,” was excellently presented by Pastor Judy Pierce from St. John Missionary Baptist Church in New Bern.

The officers were award certificates from the mayor of Washington, Mac Hodges, and Maranatha SDA Church. Because of prior commitments, the absent officers’ certificates were delivered to them by Sgt. Fox.

Solo musical selections were rendered by Atika Sayfuddin, from Kinston, and Stephen Brand, from Washington.

After the morning services, Sgt. Fox and Officer Mayo fellowshipped with the members.
