The month of October is “Dog Adoption Month.”

During the month of October, dogs and puppies at the shelter will have an adoption fee of $55 each. This fee includes spaying/neutering, the first round of shots, a microchip and worming, for each dog adopted. This is a reduced fee with the remainder paid by the Humane Society of Beaufort County. For more information, call 252-946-1591.

Those interested in adopting a pet should inquire at the Betsy Bailey Nelson Animal Control Facility, 3931 U.S. Highway 264 East, from 1 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturdays. Because of overcrowded conditions, the animals listed are only available as indicated.

All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To see more animals available for adoption, visit www.petango.com/beaufortcountyNC, visit ENC Shelter Dogs, ENC Shelter Cats and Washington Cat Rescue on Facebook or call 252-946-4517 for more information. Shelby

Sweet, lovable, friendly and gorgeous — that’s our Shelby. At 3 years old, this vivacious

tortoiseshell girl wears her luscious shorthair coat of ebony, apricot, fawn and ivory like a Vogue model. Shelby desires love and attention, and she will make a fantastic pet and companion in a good and loving forever home. Come in for a visit, she’d love to meet you.

Shelby will be available through next Saturday. For more photos visit www.facebook.com/ENC Shelter Cats/ID#1661.

Nino

With a coat the color of maple sugar and big brown molasses eyes, our pint-size boy is as sweet as candy. At present, Nino, a 1-year-old Pomeranian mix is unsure of his surroundings. But he loves being held, cuddled, soft words whispered and his soft little bed.  Nino needs to be an indoor dog, exercised on leash or fenced area, at a good loving forever home. Nino will then blossom with love and affection for his owner(s) and be their pet and companion.

Please note that Nino will not be available for adoption until Monday. Interested parties may fill out a form on Saturday stating desire to adopt Nino on the following Monday. Multiple parties may do the same and all adoptions are on a first come, first served basis. We apologize for any inconvenience.
