Mr. Lloyd Dean Simmons, age 82, a resident of 187 Waterford Drive, Bath, died Friday, October 28, 2016 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at St. Clair’s Church of Christ, Highway 99, Bath, conducted by Craig Hagen. Burial will follow in Belhaven Community Cemetery, Belhaven.

The following will serve as pallbearers: Bob Morlock, Forrest Leventree, Wayne Russ, Thomas Russ Jr., Neil Russ and Chris Kiricoples.

Mr. Simmons was born in Leechville, N.C., on December 4, 1933. He was the son of the late Malcolm Simmons and Florence Liverman Simmons. Mr. Simmons served in the U.S. Coast Guard for three years. He retired as a rural mail carrier for the U.S Postal Service. He was a member of the American Legion and St. Clair’s Church of Christ. In his spare time, Mr. Simmons was an avid gardener.

Mr. Simmons was married to the former Ellen “Louise” Williams, who survives.

Surviving with his wife is a sister, Winnie Russ and her husband, Tommy of Tampa, FL.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by a stepson, Jerry Lee Jones.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Tuesday at St. Clair’s Church of Christ.
