Sallie A. Woolard

Mrs. Sallie Elizabeth Alligood Woolard, age 84, a resident of 1234 Betsy’s Elbow Road, Washington, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at her home.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by Marty Alligood. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery in Washington.

The following will serve as active pallbearers: Britt Alligood, Walt Davis, Ernie Everett, Stephen Whitley, Marty Woolard, Michael Woolard, Roland Woolard and Terry Woolard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Preston Alligood, Dwain Woolard, Scotty Woolard and Steve Woolard.

Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on March 13, 1932. She was the daughter of the late John Mack Alligood and Ruby Boyd Alligood. Mrs. Woolard attended Washington High School. She was a homemaker and farmed alongside her husband for over 60 years. Mrs. Alligood was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ. In her spare time, she loved to garden and cook for her family.

On March 17, 1950, she married Hertford Mitchell Woolard, who survives.

Surviving with her husband, are her son, Donnie B. Woolard Sr. and his wife, Margaret Ann of Washington; two grandchildren, Martha Bragg Woolard, Donnie “Blane” Woolard Jr. and his special friend, Amber Smith; two sisters, Daphine Singleton, Sylvia Carrow and her husband, Steve; and many special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Woolard was preceded in death by her stepfather, Furney Warren; son, Wyatt Lee Woolard; five brothers, Eugene Alligood, J.R. Alligood, Owen Warren, Hassell Warren and Mitchell Warren; and two sisters, Evelyn Alligood Wallace and Geneva Warren.

The family will receive friends at the home and following the service at the cemetery.

The family would like to send “Special Thanks” to Gentiva Home Health, the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center and Community Hospice for their care and compassion.
