‘The Carols and Colors of Christmas’

The Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church will present “The Carols and Colors of Christmas,” a festival of carols with traditional sing-alongs and chimer performance specials.
The youth and adults of the church will adorn the sanctuary for the Christmas season. The evergreens will be placed to represent renewal, freshness and rebirth. The Christmas tree will be decorated with ornaments and then lighted. Poinsettias, perhaps the most popular of all Christmas flowers, will be brought in and placed. Candles will be placed in the windows to highlight the sanctuary, as a symbol of love. As usual in Christmas programs, a focus will be placed on the Nativity scene.
“The entire program — chiming, singing, decorating and Nativity scene — will help celebrate the real reason for the season, the birth of Jesus Christ,” said Ann Brickhouse, a member of the chimer group.
The program will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sound Side Missionary Baptist Church, 2607 Sound Side Road, Columbia.
“This will be a wonderful closure to the River Town Christmas weekend festivities,” Brickhouse remarked. “We will be serving delicious refreshments in the social hall following the program, an additional reason to come join us.”
