UVA students receive honors

Miss Hannah Marie Zachman and Miss Elizabeth Grace Zachman were recently honored at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

Hannah is a senior nursing student. She was recently named to the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Hannah is a senior midshipman at UVA, and will graduate and be commissioned as a United States Navy nurse in May 2017, commencing a tour of active duty as an officer.

Hannah competed and finished well in the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 30.

Elizabeth is a junior architecture student. She was recently named to receive the Intermediate Award at the UVA fall convocation ceremony on Nov. 4. Those awards “are bestowed upon the top 20 percent of those students who have earned 60 credits of coursework at the university during their first two years.”

Hannah and Elizabeth are the daughters of Capt. William M. Zachman Jr., U.S. Navy Reserve, and Catherine Kurtz Zachman, of Montclair, Virginia. They are the granddaughters of Bill and Katherine Zachman of Bath, North Carolina, and Peter and Marie Kurtz of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

FUTURE HERO: Hannah Zachman was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and is set to graduate and be commissioned as a U.S. Navy officer in May 2017.
