Barbara Jean Baynor

Barbara Jean Baynor, 77, passed away on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Oakdale Cemetery.

Mrs. Baynor, a native of Beaufort County, was the daughter of the late Jimmy Beacham and Thelma Corey Beacham, and spent her youth in Washington. She married Linwood Baynor in 1965 and they moved to New York where they spent the next 10 years there and then moved back to North Carolina in 1974. After raising her three children, Barbara went back to school and received her GED and cosmetologist license. She opened her own beauty shop in 1981, later having to close due to health problems. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and was always willing to help others even though she tackled many health issues.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Hale Roscoe; a grandson, Clay Reid Lilley; and a brother-in-law, William G. Davidson.

She is survived by her: husband of 51 years, Linwood R. Baynor; children, Sherry Lilley and husband, Dennis, Jimmy Baynor and his companion Ann Brown, and Eric Baynor and wife, Kristi, all of Washington; grandchildren, Chad Lilley, Chelsea Baynor-Godard and husband, Lucas, Chase Baynor, Chaleigh Baynor, Erica Baynor, and Braxton Baynor; great-grandchild, Caylan Reid Lilley; sister, Amelia Davidson of Washington; brother, James “Pete” Beacham of Washington; special friend and caregiver, Debbie Downs of Washington; and her beloved doggie companion, Dolly.
