Helen Person Young, 99, widow of Sgt. Raeford W. Young, of Durham, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at Brookdale of Chapel Hill. Born on July 22, 1917 to the late Graham and Madaline Kearney Person, Helen was always hospitable with a wonderful disposition. She was an excellent cook and seamstress who provided for and fed her community. Helen was a graduate of Louisburg College.

Graveside service will be held Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Oakwood Cemetery in Louisburg.

Helen is survived by her sons, Robert W. Young (Nancy) of Durham and Lewis G. Young (Renee) of Washington, NC; granddaughters, Robin, Kimberly and Madaline Young; grandson, Graham Young; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Raegan and Kendall Hancock; and her sister, Janie Johnson of Durham.
