Ella Mae Woolard

Mrs. Ella Mae Smith Woolard, age 88, a former resident of Mill Road, Washington, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at Ridgewood Manor.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, in the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory, conducted by Eddie Bowen. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery

The following will serve as pallbearers: Seaman Grayson Woolard, Jerry Eisenzimmer, Mike Nichols, J. A. Jackson, Freddie Matkins and Steve Eisenzimmer.

Mrs. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on March 8, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Fred Ralph Smith and Mary Betty Hodges Smith Belote Perry. Mrs. Woolard was a homemaker and a retired assembler at Hamilton Beach. She was a member of the Old Ford Church of Christ, Circle #3, and the Christian Women’s Sunday School Class. Mrs. Woolard was active in her community as long as her health permitted. In her spare time, she enjoyed flowers.

On May 14, 1948, she married Henry S. Woolard, who preceded her in death, Nov. 13, 1970.

Mrs. Woolard is survived by two sons, William Steven “Steve” Woolard and wife, Pattie, of Winterville, N.C., “Jerry” Wayne Woolard and partner Amy Cox of Mableton, GA; three grandchildren, Blair Hoffman, Mercedes W. Adkins and husband, Capt. Paul Adams, U.S. Army, Seaman Grayson Stewart Woolard, U.S. Navy; two step-grandchildren, Kellie M. Wallace and husband, Adam, Erin M. Terry and husband, Mike; two step-great-grandchildren, Noah Wallace and Fischer Terry and sister, Peggy Libick of Virginia Beach, Va.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Woolard was preceded in death by a brother, Thurman L. Smith.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday from noon until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
