Ruth F. Davis

Ruth Frazelle Davis, 97, a resident of Cross Creek Health Care and formerly of Engelhard, North Carolina, died February 16, 2017.

A graveside service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Soule Cemetery, and will be officiated by Steve Bryan.

Mrs. Davis was born on November 2, 1919, in Fayetteville, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late James Roy Frazelle and Ruth Farmer Frazelle. She was raised in Onslow County where she was a graduate of Richlands High School. In 1941, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from East Carolina Teachers College, now East Carolina University, and moved to Hyde County as a schoolteacher. Mrs. Davis married Coleman Credle Davis on July 8, 1944; he preceded her in death in 1992.

A beloved son, James Reeves Davis, preceded Mrs. Davis in death in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jerome Rene Frazelle (1986), and her nephew, Donald Jerome Frazelle (1971).

Mrs. Davis was a member of Amity United Methodist Church and happily acted as treasurer for 53 years. She was also an active member of the 264 Bridge Club.

Mrs. Davis is survived by one niece, Barbara Frazelle Siders and husband Burt Siders of Fletcher, North Carolina; four nephews: David Frazelle and wife Bonnie Frazelle of Alexandria, Virginia, Douglas James Frazelle of Trenton, Missouri, George T. Davis Jr. and wife Katherine Davis of Swan Quarter, North Carolina, and Calvin Blythe Davis and wife Kelly Davis, of Swan Quarter, North Carolina. Mrs. Davis is also survived by several great- and great-great-nephews and nieces, and many dear friends at Cross Creek Health Care.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.
