Mr. Merritt William Clark II, age 88, a resident of Shad Bend Drive, Washington, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville. No services will be held.

Mr. Clark was born in St. Albans, Vermont, on June 24, 1928. He was the son of the late Merritt William Clark, Sr. and Lillian Clark. Mr. Clark served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired elementary school principal in Enosburg Falls, Vermont. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing canasta at the Senior Center in Washington.

Mr. Clark is survived by his children, Merritt William “Bill” Clark III, Jane Clark, Kathy Landry, Susan Berini, Peggy Stowell; three sisters, Gladys Menkens, Judy Linder, Virginia Richards; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Clark was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Clark.
