Mrs. Hattie Louise Mills Rouse, age 82, a resident of Market Street Ext., Washington, died Wednesday morning, March 8, 2017, at her home.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Bennett Rouse, Daniel Rouse, Douglas Mills, Luke Whichard, Junior Wainwright and Douglas Barfield will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 prior to the service on Friday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home.

Mrs. Rouse was born in Pitt County on September 23, 1934, daughter of the late Luke Mills and Allie Hardee Mills. She was a 1953 graduate of Chicod High School. On May 28, 1953, she married George Frankie Rouse who survives. She retired from Hamilton Beach with over 30 years’ service. Mrs. Rouse was member of Women of the Moose.

In addition to her husband, Frankie of the home, she is survived by her sons: Robert Rouse and wife Tammy of Raleigh and Billy Wayne Rouse and wife Ann of Washington; her brothers: Virgil Mills and wife Barbara of Black Jack, Jay Mills and wife Mina of Baltimore, MD and Harry Mills and wife Brenda of Black Jack; her sisters: Rebecca Baggs of Virginia Beach, VA and Janice Williams of Marion, SC; her grandchildren: Bennett Rouse, Taylor Rouse, Jodie Rouse and Daniel Rouse and her great-grandson: Dawson Rouse. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers: Sam David Mills, William Mills, Henry Mills and Herbert Mills; her sister: Chelsie Whichard and her granddaughter: Sandy Rouse.
