Fred A. Toler Jr.

Mr. Fred Arthur Toler Jr., age 80, a resident of Washington, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and will be conducted by Marty Alligood. His nephews, Guy Stowe Jr., Lentz Stowe, Fred Stowe, Ed Stowe and Wes Toler will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Toler was born in Beaufort County on October 5, 1936 to the late Fred Arthur Toler Sr. and Caroline Elizabeth Wilkinson Toler. On September 20, 1959, he married Annie Jane Harris who preceded him in death on September 27, 2001. He was a 1955 graduate of Washington High School and attended Beaufort Community College for 2 years. He served in the United States Army and was a mechanic with DuPont, retiring after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Red Men’s Lodge, DAV and attended First Church of Christ. Mr. Toler enjoyed shooting pool with his friends at the Civic Center.

Survivors include, one daughter, Teresa Fletcher and husband Stephen of Pantego; two sons, Derek Toler of Washington, Fred A. Toler III of Washington; three grandchildren, Stephen Fletcher IV, Caroline Elizabeth Fletcher, Alexis Faith Toler and one brother, Steve Toler and wife Mary of Washington. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Chris Stowe and Ann Stowe.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday, March 31, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
