Mr. Edwin Hodges Ellis, age 87, a resident of 1590 Pike Road, Pantego, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Pike Road Church of Christ, 43 Pike Road, Pantego, conducted by Larry Wilson. Mr. Ellis’ nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Pike Road Church of Christ.
Mr. Ellis was born In Martin County on November 5, 1929. He was the son of the late William Charles Ellis and Thomina Hodges Ellis. Mr. Ellis was a retired millwright with Weyerhaeuser for 46 years. He was a member of the Pike Road Church of Christ where he had served as an Elder. Mr. Ellis was a member of the E.A.A. (Experimental Aircraft Association) and enjoyed flying his airplane with Ernie Derstine and Everett Hershey. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Ellis filled his promise to his wife, Sylvia Ellis of 48 years, taking care of her to the end after her long battle with pulmonary disease.
Mr. Ellis is survived by his daughter, Lois Ramirez and her husband, Nahum of Pantego and their children, G. L. Hudson and Edwin Fyle; and his son, Eddie Ellis and his wife, Julie of Pantego and their children, Mason, Logan and Olivia (Poppy’s Sweetheart).
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by two brothers, William C. Ellis Jr., Morgan Ellis and five sisters, Dare Holliday, Beatrice Clark, Clarice Murl Veach, Jean Collins and Frances Beddard.
