Suzan “Sue” Mason

Mrs. Suzan “Sue” Boyd Mason, age 79, a resident of Pinetown, died Sunday, April 16, 2017 at River Trace Nursing Center of Washington.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Five Points Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. David Young. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Donza Nobles, B.J. Jackson, Mike Cockman, Galin Ambrose, Bert Boyd and Irving Mason.

The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Five Points Free Will Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sue was born in Beaufort County on November 10, 1937, daughter of the late Clarence Boyd and the late Ida Florence Boyd. She attended Bath High School and played on the basketball team. On September 21, 1957, Mrs. Sue married the love of her life, Donza Foy Mason who preceded her in death on February 5, 2010. She was a homemaker who worked in tobacco farming and enjoyed assisting customers at White Plains Nursery. Mrs. Sue was a member of Five Points Free Will Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher. Her priorities were her God, family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters: Donna Mason Jackson and her husband Billy Joe Jackson Sr. and Tammy Sue Mason, all of Washington; a sister: Lahoma Phillips of Plymouth; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sue was predeceased by a brother Olbert Mason Boyd.
