Raymond L. Beale

Raymond L. Beale (aka “Potch” to his grandchildren), age 79, of Washington, formerly of Rocky Mount, NC, Roanoke, VA, and Lynchburg, VA, went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2017.

A funeral service will be held 12:30 PM Saturday, June 3, 2017 in the Tharp Chapel. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park in Forest, VA.

Mr. Beale was born on August 28, 1937, in Lynchburg, VA, to the late Norris H. and Mildred D. Beale.

He graduated from Brookville High School in Lynchburg, served in the Navy reserve, and retired from Pepsi Bottling Ventures. Mr. Beale was a former member of the Old Forest Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg and Shenandoah Baptist Church in Roanoke. Most recently, he was a member of Sunset Ave. Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. He also enjoyed being a member of the Gideons Internationals.

Survivors include his wife of 57 ½ years, Delores H. Beale, three daughters, Karen Beale of Virginia Beach, Robin Privette and husband Terry of Virginia Beach, Amy Craft and husband Brandon of Washington, and four grandchildren, Alex and Skyler Privette, Logan and Savanna Craft, a sister Lois B. Williams of Appomattox, VA, a sister-in-law, Phyllis H. Padgett of Virginia Beach, two brothers-in-law, John E Hunt of Virginia Beach, Douglas J. Hunt of Lynchburg, VA, two nieces and five nephews.

The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive in Lynchburg, VA, on Saturday, June 3, 2017, from 11:00 to 12:30 pm.
