Ross Brinkley Ambrose, 70, of Creswell died Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City.

Born November 3, 1946 in Washington County he was the son of the late Odell Ambrose and Pearl Davenport Ambrose and was preceded in death by his wife, Nona West Ambrose and sister, Lucille A. Taylor. Ross was a retired transportation technician with Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority and member of Philippi Church of Christ.

His family includes his daughters, Deanna Ambrose Smith and husband Rick of Creswell, N.C., Nona Ambrose Kinsey and husband Bryan of Zebulon, N.C. and Jennifer Ambrose of Mount Holly, N.J.; son, Chris Phelps and wife Brenda of Edenton, N.C.; sisters, Jean A. Stover and husband Gary of Kittaning, PA. and Margaret A. Talley of Jacksonville, N.C.; grandchildren, Kierstyn Smith, Tyler Smith, Lindsey Phelps, Cody Kinsey, Jacob Kinsey, Courtney Kinsey, Victoria Kinsey, Brittany Ambrose, Natalia Ambrose-Gallo and Michael Ambrose and one great grandchild on the way.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 am at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell with Pastor Charlie Reber and Larry Woodley officiating. Burial will follow in Philippi Church of Christ Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
