Marilyn Rice Harris

Marilyn “MiMi” Rice Harris, age 65, a resident of 362 Edwards Road, Chocowinity, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.

A memorial service was held at 7:00 PM Monday, July 17, 2017 at Washington Assembly of God with Pastor Jerry Waters officiating. The family received friends prior to the service from 6:00 PM until the service hour at the church.

Mrs. Harris was born in Anderson County, South Carolina on September 8, 1951, the daughter of the late William Reid Rice Jr. and Willie Lorine Gillespie Rice, who survives. She married James Richard Harris, her husband of 37 years, on July 3, 1980. Marilyn was a nurse and helped many people throughout her career. Her life can be expressed by her own words as she quoted, “I am best known as MiMi, I live in Eastern NC, and I love it. My greatest accomplishment in life is being a wife, mother and grandmother. My second is becoming a Naturopathic Doctor. I love helping people find a way to better health.” MiMi had a great love for her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years James Richard Harris of the home; a son: Josh Reid Harris and wife Casey of Chocowinity; a daughter: Renee Burrough and husband Kenneth of Benton, LA; a sister: Marsha Gibson of Greenville, SC; two brothers: Bill Rice and wife Tina of Cincinnati, Ohio and Steve Rice and wife Beth of Greenville, SC and five grandchildren: Kameron Burrough, Hunter Burrough, Kaitlyn Harris, Emma Harris and Waylon Harris.
