Dogs go off leash

FREE AT LAST: After a life tethered to a tree by a rope and chain, Honey now has a spacious pen in which to run and play, thanks to the all-volunteer Freedom for Friends organization, which builds free fences for dogs on chains. The requirement in return is to spay or neuter the pet to help cut down on the county’s stray population. Freedom for Friends relies on contributions from caring people to make such heart-touching events as this possible. Donations can be sent to “Freedom for Friends,” P.O. Box 2992, Washington, NC 27889; more information can be found by emailing freedomforfriends@yahoo.com; or calling Brenda Rogers at 252-721-3558. (Sally Houston)
