Jessie Warren “Jay” Stocks, Jr., 58, died Sunday, July 30, 2017.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 6 pm in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Jay, a native of Pitt County, was a 1977 graduate of Ayden Grifton High School.  He was the owner and operator A-1 Cleaning Equipment.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  An avid hunter, fisherman, and boater, Jay enjoyed traveling with his wife.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Grimesland Chapter #475, and the Sudan Shriners of New Bern.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Warren Stocks; and grandparents, Lloyd and Edna Craft and Harvey and Mamie Stocks.

He is survived by his: wife of 7 years, Karen Lynch Stocks; daughters, Shannon Stocks Johnson and husband, Ashley, of Grifton, and

Dana Stocks and fiancé, Tommy Shirley, of Grimesland; mother, Joyce Craft Stocks, of Ayden; grandchildren, Ryleigh Stocks, Braeden Johnson, Ellie Johnson, and Holly Shirley; sisters, Bridget Stocks Hagan and husband, Mike, of Winterville, and

Judy Stocks Mendieta, of Georgetown, TX; and nieces and nephews, Tracy Vaughan and husband, Ben, of Ayden, Terry Braxton, of Greenville, Michelle Wainwright, of Greenville, and Chris Wainwright and wife, Amy, of Wilmington.
