The Washington Kiwanis Club awarded the second of its annual $1,200 scholarships at a recent meeting. Walter R. “Rob” Zerniak IV, a graduate of Washington High School, was honored as the recipient. During his time at Washington High, Rob was active in the Key Club along with many other school and extracurricular activities.
In comments to the club, Rob announced his intention to attend North Carolina State University this fall.
Funding for the scholarships and other club projects comes from community activities including the Annual Lobster Sale, the Washington/Kiwanis Christmas Parade and the Annual Golf Tournament.
The Kiwanis Club of Washington meets each Tuesday for lunch at King Chicken on Carolina Avenue in Washington. The club welcomes prospective members who have an interest in service to the community.
