Mr. Hill was born in Beaufort County on August 30, 1923, son of the late Lazarus Hill and the late Matilda Cutler Hill. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart. On September 6, 1952, he married the love of his life, the former Marie Grant who survives. After serving in the Army he worked as an electrician until his retirement. Mr. Hill was predeceased by three sisters: Vina Warren, Rosa Taylor and Edna H. Edwards and three brothers: Walter Hill, Charlie Hill and Truman Hill.
