Leola Ann T. Boyd

Mrs. Leola Ann Tanksley Boyd, age 74, a resident of 233 Boyd Acres Road, Washington, died Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Am Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Beebe Memorial CME Church, 427 N. Respess Street, Washington, conducted by Pastor Doris Gorham.

Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Mrs. Boyd’s nephews, cousins and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Boyd was born in Savannah, Georgia on December 9, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Paul Tanksley and Jestine Butler Tanksley. Mrs. Boyd had lived in Vailsburg, N.J. prior to retiring to North Carolina nine years ago. Mrs. Boyd worked as a beautician for three years and later five years as a Lab Technician at Hoffman-LaRoche lab. She retired as a childcare provider.

In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bingo, decorating, cooking and traveling. On September 10, 1961, she married Milton E. Boyd Sr. who survives.

Surviving with her husband are her children, Patrice L. Boyd-Fair (Oceola) of Orange, N.J., Milton E. Boyd Jr. (Nekay) of Lumberton, N.J., Maurice Boyd (Shawnteeha) of Hackettstown, N.J.; eight grandchildren, JaNee’ Fair, Briana Boyd, Sequoia Boyd, Morgan Boyd, Milton Boyd III, Samiyah Leola Boyd, Maurice Boyd Jr., Kyle Boyd, Brandon Henry, Cameron McCleod; siblings, Paul Tanksley Jr. of Ft. Washington, MD, Willie Tanksley of Savannah, GA, Ret. Lt. Col. James Tanksley (Dr. Mary Tanksley) of Columbus, Ga., Algene Tanksley (Bishop Dorothy Tanksley) of Savannah, GA, and Betty R. Tanksley Wilson (Ray Wilson Sr.) of Savannah, GA.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Tanksley and a sister, Anna Butler Storey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, August 11, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home, 233 Boyd Acres Road, Washington.
