Rotarians lend a hand in Thailand

In the struggling province of Sariburi, Thailand, finding employment is a challenge — especially for single mothers. To help these folks, the Rotary Club of Bangkok raised about $5,000 to construct a community center to offer classes in cooking and crafts, including woodcarving and basket weaving. Since the building was finished this past March, some 100 people have taken classes there. “Those who pass the training courses should have a better living with higher salaries to support themselves and their families,” said a local Rotarian named Lalita. One more way Rotarians are working to change their world.
