Mrs. Carol Cutler Boyd, age 95, formerly of Runyon Hills, Washington, died Saturday afternoon, September 16, 2017 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Washington, officiated by Rev. Carol Steffa and Rev. Lee Parker. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on December 10, 1921, daughter of the late John Fenner Cutler and Dora Congleton Cutler. She was a 1939 graduate of Bath High School. On December 8, 1941, she married Arthur Lee Boyd who preceded her in death on February 28, 1998. Mrs. Boyd was a 1962 graduate of Washington School of Practical Nursing located at Beaufort County Hospital and received her LPN license. She was employed as a staff nurse at Beaufort County Hospital for 25 years. After retirement, she worked in the Hospice Program in Beaufort County and as a volunteer at Beaufort County Hospital. Mrs. Boyd was a member of the First Christian Church in Washington where she was a member of C.W.F., co-worker Sunday School class and C.F.W Book Club. She was an avid gardener, loved to travel, paint and read.

Mrs. Boyd is survived by her two sons: John Arthur Boyd Sr. of New Bern and Roger Paul Boyd of Kenai, Alaska; her two daughters: Joy Carol Boyd Hulecki of Orlando, FL and Dorita Lynn Boyd and husband Jan Pernov of Washington; her nine grandchildren: Juliet Boyd Rogers of New Bern, John Arthur Boyd Jr. of Cape Carteret, James Noah Beckett of Hanover, PA, Jonathan Adam Hulecki of Virginia Beach, VA, Caroline Hulecki Hourani of Orlando, FL, Tyler Paul Boyd of Kenai, Alaska, Austin Cooper Boyd of Anchorage, Alaska, Sanne Pernov Tavares and Jakob Boyd Pernov, both of Copenhagen, Denmark; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother: Leslie Alston Cutler.

The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.
