RIVER RALLY: Supporters of the Save Blounts Creek movement took to their vessels Saturday to make a statement against a mining company’s state-issued permit to discharge up to 12 million gallons of fresh water per day into the brackish headwaters of Blounts Creek. The Martin Marietta Materials Inc. mine has yet to be built. The permit is being challenged in court by local environmental organizations.
