Edward Harold Younce

Mr. Edward Harold Younce, age 84, resident of 111 Riverchase, Washington, died Thursday afternoon, October 12, 2017 at his home.

A graveside service will be held 3:30 PM on Sunday October 15, 2017 at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Chaplain Daryl Kelly. Hal Younce, Tim Tetterton, Ross Chandler, Christopher Chandler, Shawn Carrow and Daniel Carrow will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Younce was born in Virginia on April 10, 1933 son of the late Earl Stanley Younce and Elizabeth Wise Younce. On May 9, 1955, he married the former Frances Ann Walker who preceded him in death on November 17, 2006. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. When he was discharged from the Navy, he moved to Honduras, South America and started a family logging business. Upon return to the U.S. he worked for various companies including D.S. Swain, a printing company in Houston, was a driver for Mayflower and Everett Trucking. He also worked with Weyerhaeuser (Green Arrow) until he started his own trucking company. He retired as owner of Younce Trucking Company. Mr. Younce was a member of the First Baptist Church in Washington and a contributor to the Blind Center.

Mr. Younce is survived by his daughter: Lynn Younce of Washington; his sons: Edward (Hal) Younce, Jr. and wife Windy of Chocowinity and Stanley Gray Younce of Washington; six grandchildren: Shawn Carrow and wife Kerin, Daniel Carrow and wife Sarah, Holli Tetterton and husband Tim, Whitney Younce, Walker Younce and Marshall Younce; four great grandchildren: Keniel Carrow, Aryanna Carrow, Annabelle Carrow and Ashlin Tetterton; two half-brothers: Earl Younce, Jr. and Buddy Sumner and family friend: Carolyn Chandler of Vanceboro.

The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the service on Sunday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
