Laura Elizabeth Branch Hodges, 88, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Nov. 3, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Hilliard Memorial Baptist Church, 2311 Westchester Drive in High Point. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Burial will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at the Denby Family Cemetery in Chocowinity.

A 1947 graduate of Chocowinity High School, Laura served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After retiring from Gilbarco in 1995, she opened Laura B’s, a freelance sewing service which specialized in window treatments.

Laura attended the Church at High Point and was known for her concern for others and active prayer life. An avid reader throughout her life, she especially loved to study the Bible and fellowship with other believers. Her consistent witness, instilled by her deep faith, inspired all who knew her. Laura was born in Ayden, on Feb. 13, 1929, to the late John Quincey Branch and Sally Freeman Denby. In 1956, she married William Bryant Hodges, deceased. Laura’s family legacy includes her sons Michael Hodges, John Hodges and wife Teresa, and Timothy Hodges and wife Susie; daughters, Billie L. Hodges (deceased), Claudia Eldridge and husband Ned. Grandchildren and their families are: Sarah Eldridge Shingler and husband Stephen, their daughters, Ada, Margot and Francis; John Eldridge and wife Mariel, their daughters, Dalia and Elora; Page Eldridge and wife Jenny; Heather Hodges Cole and husband Daniel, their children Gavin and Ava; John Hodges, II and wife Brandi, their daughter Henley; Joseph Hodges and wife Ashley, their daughter Tatum; Tori Jefcoat and husband David, their children Harley, Dylan and Machaella.

Known as “Lib” to her siblings, she is pre-deceased by two siblings who died in childhood, Billy and Beatrice Branch. She is survived by sisters, Betty Jean Bass of Tallahassee, Florida, Mary Leigh Civils Hawthorne and husband Robert of Hampstead, North Carolina, Lois Faye Morgan and husband Carl of Farmville; brothers, Douglas Branch and wife Lou of Chocowinity; George Branch and wife Patricia of New Bern. Nieces and nephews include: Jeanine Easton, Karen Ali, Randy Burton, Don Burton, Ronnie Civils, Jr., Jason Civils, Carl Branch, Edith Barbour, Tracy Phillips, Deborah Peaden and Rebecca James.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 27262.
