Washington (noon) Rotary President Ron Buzzeo recently recognized fellow Rotarian Pam Anderson with a “Service Above Self” award for her years of serving as coordinator of the club’s major annual fundraiser, the Smoke on the Water festival.

Pam is the current vice president of Washington (noon) Rotary and public image chair for District 7720.

Smoke on the Water is an annual fundraising event, organized by Washington (noon) Rotary, which takes place every year in Washington in late October. Easily one of Washington’s largest and most popular community events, Smoke on the Water features barbecue cooking teams throughout the region competing for the best barbecue.

The barbecue produced as a result of the competition is then prepared and sold to the public.

Washington (noon) Rotary uses the proceeds throughout the year to support local community organizations. Next year’s Smoke on the Water date is Oct. 21.

Washington (noon) Rotary consists of volunteers within Beaufort County dedicating their efforts to charitable causes both locally and those to which its parent organization subscribes.

Each year, this local group has raised and disbursed funds to local nonprofits through creative fundraising activities. For more information, visit washingtonnoonrotary.org/ or www.facebook.com/WashingtonNoonRotary/.
