Shirley M. Taitt

Mrs. Shirley Lee McCloy Taitt, who was a very loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, “Nee Nee” to many, age 82, a resident of Farm Life and a former resident of Washington, went to be with her heavenly father, Friday, November 17, 2017.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Second Baptist Church of Washington and will be conducted by Rev. John Koche, Steve Taitt and Jack Franks. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. James Klapp, Gene Doggett, Billy Braddy, Steve Foreman, Ken Maness and Delbert White will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Taitt was born in Tyler County, West Virginia on September 16, 1935 to the late William Jonathan McCloy and Elsie Reed McCloy. On June 27, 1953, she married Dale Eugene Taitt who preceded her in death on March 16, 2015. She was a member of the Grace Harwell Senior Citizen Center and Second Baptist Church where she served in the choir, as a Sunday school teacher and soloist.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Taitt and wife Barbara of Stafford Virginia, Mark Taitt and wife Kim of Carrollton, Virginia, Steven Taitt and wife Corina of Doylestown, Pennsylvania; three daughters, Teala Taitt of Windsor, North Carolina, Helen Taitt and husband Delbert of Farm Life, North Carolina, Bobbie Taitt of Windsor, North Carolina; one brother, John McCloy and wife Sharon of Coolville, Ohio; four sisters, Bernice Balderson of Edenton, Georgia, Helen Steel of Colebrook, New Hampshire, Margaret Farnsworth of Lynchburg, Virginia, Carolyn Templeton and husband Bill of Chatham, Illinois; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

The family received friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, November 20, 2017 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of her daughter, Helen Taitt, 1035 Seymour Price Road, Jamesville, NC 27846.
