James “Jim” Edward Brady

James “Jim” Edward Brady, 69, of Johnson City, passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Jim was born in Greensboro, NC to the late R.B. Brady, Jr. and Etta Coltrane Brady. Jim was an Eagle Scout and received the God and Country Award before turning 16.
Jim graduated with honors from Walter H. Page High School, attended University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and graduated with a degree in accounting and finance from Guilford College.
A veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, Jim was honorably discharged. He volunteered in schools and numerous nonprofit organizations.
Jim was an accountant for many manufacturing companies including: Cone Mills in Greensboro, Nantucket Hosery, Selig Furniture in Siler City, N.C., Singer Furniture in Chocowinity, Sumpter Furniture Company in Sumpter, S.C., and Precision Metal in Johnson City, Tennessee.
He was an avid reader, loved doing yard work and was an animal rights activist.
Survivors include: his wife of 36 years, Jane Maas-Brady; two children, Patrick Sean Brady of the U.S. Army and his wife, Stephanie, and Erin Jean Oberuch and her husband Michael of Maryland; four grandchildren, Justin R. Brady, Cody A. Brady, Emily L. Oberuch and Megan E. Oberuch; one sister, Juanita Rumley; and two nephews, Joseph R. and James R. Rumley.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
