Roland Stotesberry

Roland Stotesberry, 84, of the Ponzer community, Belhaven, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Beaufort County on Oct. 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Carl and Ruth Morris Stotesberry. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Christine Sadler.  He is survived by his present wife Karen Knott Stotesberry.
Roland faithfully served his country during the Korean conflict with the United States Army and upon his return he spent his working years as a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed reading, was a great cook, an avid hunter and enjoyed working on the water.
The family will gather with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Bryan Funeral Service Swan Quarter on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son Curtis Stotesberry of Swan Quarter; two daughters, Lisa Stotesberry of LaBelle, Florida, Susan Stotesberry of Swan Quarter; a stepson, Glen Knott of Belhaven; a stepdaughter, Christine Avery and husband Scott of Coats, NC; two brothers, Wilbur Stotesberry and wife Betty, of West Point, Virginia, Gilbert Stotesberry and wife Vivian, of Belhaven; two sisters, Geraldine Cale and husband Carlton of Colerain, Mollie Harrison and husband Butch of Belhaven; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Stotesberry; a brother-in-law, Mack Knight of Sunbury; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren,  two great-great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son Ernie Stotesberry; a brother, Burley Stotesberry, and a sister, Nellie S. Knight.
