William “Teeny” Baker, Sr.

William “Teeny” Allan Baker, Sr. aka, Papa, age 72, a resident of Washington, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2017, at First Church of Christ and will be officiated by Steve Hill. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Matthew Thomas, Mark Thomas, Bobby Boyd, Tyler Waters, Josh Parker and Dawson Woolard will serve as pallbearers.

Teeny was born in Edgecombe County on March 10, 1945, to the late Noah Baker, Jr. and Annie Ophelia Holland Baker. On May 1, 1966, he married Carolyn Ann Hewitt. For over 30 years, Teeny worked for Carolina Telephone as a service technician. He was a diehard Tar Heels and Redskins fan. Teeny enjoyed helping with the local Cal Ripken Baseball league and riding his lawn mower. Most of all he loved his family.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Hewitt Baker of the home, a son, William “Teeny” Baker, Jr. and wife Tracie of Chocowinity, a daughter, Melissa Baker Harris and husband Timmy of Tarboro, three grandchildren, Colton Baker, Kayla Perdue, Christopher Perdue, eight great grandchildren, two sisters, Sophia Hardy and husband Jerry of Tarboro, and Lisa Baker and James Fulton of Tarboro.

He is preceded in death by a brother Malcolm Linwood Baker.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at his home.
