John J. “Willy” Wilson, Jr.

John James “Willy” Wilson, Jr., aka. Papa, age 73, a resident of Chocowinity, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens and will be officiated by Travis Boyd.

Mr. Wilson was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on Sept. 22, 1944, to the late John James Wilson, Sr. and Dolly Wilson. On April 10, 1964, he married Carol Linda Lemos. He worked in the Quincy Shipyard and then for Walmart for 18 years. Mr. Wilson loved his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He never met a stranger and treated everyone like family.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Carol Linda Wilson, of the home, a son, John James Wilson III and wife Robin of Brockton, seven grandchildren, Ashley Higgins, Cory Wilson, Johnny Wilson, Stephanie Zettlemoyer and husband T. J. Bray, Scott Ramsey and wife Allison, Heather Wilcox and boyfriend Steven Hartwig, Joshua Wilson, and seven great-grandchildren, Shane, Summer, Jaiden, Jordan, Xander, Jaxson and Hayleigh.

He is preceded in death by a son, Scott Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory.
