Mrs. Joyce Mae Anderson Chrismon, age 77, a resident of Chocowinity, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 27, 2017, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington officiated by Rev. Joe Ange. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Bill Clark, Brian Taylor, Lee Smith, John Harrelson, John Bland and Woody Mercer will serve as pallbearers. Haydon Smith will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends 1 p.m. until the funeral hour on Friday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington.

Mrs. Chrismon was born in Beaufort County on May 15, 1940, daughter of the late Johnnie A. Anderson and Lillian Mae McLawhorn Anderson. She was a 1958 graduate of Grimesland High School. On May 6, 1967, she married Thomas Elwood Chrismon who preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 2004. Mrs. Chrismon was a homemaker and volunteered at Beaufort County Hospital for 35 years. She loved all animals and her passion was to find a home for all animals. Mrs. Chrismon attended Union Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Chrismon is survived by her daughter, Patty Smith, of the home; her grandson, Lee Smith, of Williamston; her granddaughter, Holly Smith, of Chocowinity; her great-grandson, Haydon Smith; her great-granddaughter, Lydia Smith; her brother, John (Ben) Anderson; and her sisters, Linda Harrelson, of Greenville, and Ann A. Clark, of Grimesland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Edna Eisenzimmer.
