Mrs. Annie Mae Curlings Furlough, age 74, a resident of Chocowinity, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital of Washington.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington officiated by Pastor George Jones. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. David’s Church Cemetery in Creswell.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of Mrs. Furlough’s son: Frank Shawn Furlough located at 71 Pirate Cove Road, Washington.

Mrs. Furlough was born in Washington County on March 4, 1943, daughter of the late Nathan Pinner Curlings and the late Annie Mae Spruill Curlings. She was a graduate of Creswell High School and earned her associates degree in business administration at Beaufort County Community College. On Aug. 24, 1963, she married Frank Wesley Furlough who preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 2004. Mrs. Furlough worked at Walmart Supercenter of Washington for 14 years. She was a member of Chocowinity United Methodist Church where she was very involved in the widow’s ministry.

Survivors include three sons: Frank Shawn Furlough of Washington, John Wesley Furlough of Chocowinity and Hans Furlough of Charlotte and a grandson, who Mrs. Furlough raised as a son: John Richard Furlough and his wife Julia of Bear Grass. She was predeceased along with her parents and husband by three brothers: Jimmy, Phillip and Horace Curlings.
