Beaufort County received between 5-6 inches of snow Wednesday night into Thursday, with some areas in the northern part of the county receiving more, according to estimates. The snow and ice have remained, as air temperatures have no risen above freezing since. Driving conditions continue to be treacherous, especially for rural routes.

Monday closures: Beaufort County Schools (students and staff), Beaufort County Community College, Clerk of Court offices. Court is cancelled; jurors are to report at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Meals on Wheels is also cancelled.

Monday delays: Beaufort County government offices are on a two-hour delay.

Warnings: Beaufort County Emergency Management is warning people to stay off of frozen bodies of water: “Surface ice will not support your weight. Submersion into frigid water will result in immediate hypothermia. Please practice safety while enjoying outside.”
