On Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, a Black bear walks the winter fields before the snow. Last week 2-6″ of snow blanketed North Carolina’s coastal plain. With their thick fur and omnivorous diets Black bears are better adapted for colder weather than some refuge wildlife.
