Mrs. Donna Jean Dorman Alons, age 83, a resident of Washington, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at her home.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, officiated by Rev. Calvin Tuininga. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Wade Hubers, Louie Hubers, Randy Hubers, Roy Hubers, Don Hubers and Greg McGranahan. Honorary pallbearer will be Matt Robinson.

The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

Mrs. Alons was born in O’Brien County, Iowa, on Dec. 24, 1934, daughter of the late Marvin Arnold Dorman and the late Hulda Storm Dorman. She was a graduate of Sanborn Public Schools in Iowa and worked in the bookkeeping field. On July 3, 1956, she married LeRoy Gerald Alons who survives. Following her marriage, she dedicated her life to her family. She was a member of Covenant United Reformed Church in Pantego.

Surviving along with her husband, LeRoy, of the home, are two sons, Scott Lee Alons and wife Liz, of Edenton, and Rodney Ben Alons and wife Mary, of Pantego; two daughters, Debra Ann Pope, of Greenville, and Ramona Rae Nixon and husband Tony, of Grimesland; a brother, Marvin Wayne Dorman of Sanborn, Iowa; four grandchildren, Roy Alons and wife Victoria, Ryan Alons and wife Rebecca, Amanda Robinson and husband Matt, and Kristin Alons; and a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Eden Alons. Mrs. Alons was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Dorman, and a sister, Fern McGranahan.
