Mr. Walter Thomas Hamilton, II, age 52, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at his residence.

He was born Sept. 4, 1965, to the late Gladys Bateman Hamilton and Walter Thomas Hamilton in Jacksonville. He was a 1983 graduate of Washington High School and attended the BLET program at Beaufort County Community College. Walter was a member of Church of Christ in Plymouth. He was an investigator for the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and was previously owned his own company, The Gutter Guys.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay Hamilton, at home; a son, Thomas Hamilton and girlfriend Stacy of Wendell; a daughter, Alana Everett and husband Travis, of Grimesland; two step-daughters, Darcie DeTullio, of Greenville, Pennsylvania, and Jamie DeTullio and fiancée Matt Holley, of Wilmington; a step-grandson, Kyler DeTullio, of Greenville, Pennsylvania; a brother, Michael Grimsley and wife Rebecca, of Washington; three sisters, Linda Windley and husband Buddy, of Washington, Geraldine Wells and husband Brad, of Swansboro, and Tammy Suozzo and husband Matt, of New Milton, West Virginia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Walt’s life will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, with Deborah Paul officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the foyer of Hillside Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bladder Cancer Society, 399 Main St., Suite 2B, Dalton, MA 01226. Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Highway 264 East, Washington, has been given the honor of being entrusted with serving the Hamilton family.
