Mr. Linwood Earl Boyd, age 82, a resident of Washington, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Old Ford Church of Christ and will be officiated by Eddie Bowen. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Joe Ayers, H.N. Jackson, C.S. Elks, Austin Boyd, Zachary Ross and Nicholas Ross will serve as pallbearers. Earl Warren and Phillip Matkins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Boyd was born in Beaufort County on Sept. 29, 1935, to the late Willie Crandle Boyd and Dallas Elizabeth Elks Boyd. He attended Old Ford School from first grade through eighth grade and graduated from Washington High School. On June 11, 1959, he married Joyce Ann Smith. Mr. Boyd worked for over 30 years as a machine operator for DuPont. He was a member of Old Ford Church of Christ and was also a member of Old Ford Ruritan Club for over 40 years.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Smith Boyd, of the home; a son, Kevin Earl Boyd, of Washington; a daughter, Tammy Ross and husband Randy, of Johnson City, Tennessee; four grandsons, Zachary Ross, Joshua Ross, Nicholas Ross, Austin Boyd; a granddaughter, Alexis Boyd; a great-granddaughter, Eliot Ross; a brother, Danny Boyd; two sisters, Cheryl Toler, of Chocowinity, and Karen Edwards and husband Jeff, of Washington.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.
