Nest and Feed Near Bodies of Water: Belten Kingfisher

Published 5:17 pm Tuesday, February 27, 2018

You’ll find Belted Kingfishers on branches, fencing, pilings, wires, just about any perch that will give them a view of water. They eat mostly small fish. And they supplement their diet with a wide variety of other food sources such as berries, small birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects. On Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge they are frequently seen in trees along the canals next to refuge roads.
