Eight Tyrrell teachers exceed academic growth expectations

Tyrrell County Schools has an excellent staff, and while 90% of our teachers in the district met growth expectations with students, a few teachers exceeded

student academic growth expectations.

The designation “meets expected growth” is the indicator of evidence that the teacher’s students made progress similar to the Growth Standard (standard growth index between -2 and 2).

The designation “exceeds expected growth” is the indicator of evidence that the teacher’s students made more progress than the Growth Standard (growth index greater than 2) compared with other students across North Carolina.

The Board of Education recently recognized the following teachers for exceeding academic growth standards with their students:

  • Cheryl Helms- 4th Grade Math;
  • Polly Rollinson- K-2 Text and Reading Comprehension;
  • Tricia Tawes- K-2 Text and Reading Comprehension;
  • Dana DeGraaf- 7th Grade Social Studies;
  • Paige Krawczyk- 7th and 8th Grades Science;
  • Josh Davenport – Agriscience Applications;
  • Leonard Leta – Physical Science; and
  • David Spruill- Microsoft Word/Power Point.
