Belhaven’s Got Style, a free fashion show and a food experience, comes to the gazebo at the town dock at 4 p.m. April 28.
Event organizers said the fashion/food show will get Belhaven’s business community in step with spring. The gazebo is at the intersection of Pamlico and Water streets. Participating shops include Market 32, BoCo Beauties, Handpicked Sister, Southern Tuck, Attic Life and Coastal Cottage Life & Boutiques. The Tavern, Fish Hooks, George’s, O’Neal’ Gingerbread Bakery, Spoon River and Farm Boys will provide food for the event.
Pound Puppy, Mermaid’s Closet, Sarah’s of Belhaven and That’s Sew Marti will offer special discounts. All participating shops will be open later than usual to accommodate after-show shoppers and diners.
“It takes a community to pull together an event like this,” said Amy Powell Johnson, one of the event coordinators. “We had an impressive turnout last year, and we want to keep the momentum building for Belhaven, which has been blossoming with new businesses and big-hearted volunteers.”
Belhaven’s growing reputation for food, shopping and lodging makes it a great stop for boaters along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, day-trippers and weekenders, according to event organizers.
Reagan Howell, a beauty consultant from Greenville, will serve as the show’s master of ceremonies. Hair Junkies and One Stop Salon will provide hair styles and makeup for the models. Local singer Dave Rieves and Belhaven Mayor Ricky Credle are slated to provide music for the event.
Donations will be collected to support Martha’s Thrift Shop and Food Pantry.
