Mr. David Edward Rouse, age 83, a resident of 108 Cedar Lane, Washington, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, at Vidant Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2018, at Westview Cemetery in Kinston, and will be conducted by Rev. Ken Hall. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington.

Mr. Rouse was born June 2, 1934, in Lenoir County to the late Ernest Avern Rouse and Georgia Alma Phillips Rouse. On June 7, 1957, he married Shirley Marguerite Noble who survives. He was a 1952 graduate of Contentnea High School and was a self-employed automotive mechanic. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1800 where he held many positions of leadership and earned his Pilgrim Degree of Merit in 2004. He was also a member of the American Legion and served in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Shirley N. Rouse, two daughters, Gina Gurganus and husband Charles, of Washington, Tina Duckwall and husband Richard, of Washington, two sisters, Ernestine Driver, of Chesapeake, Virginia, Judy Sowers and husband Guerman, of Grifton, and four grandchildren, Dustin Duckwall and wife Liza, David Gurganus and wife Ayla, Daniel Gurganus and wife Lindsey, and Danielle Duckwall.
