George Ernest Etheridge

George Ernest Etheridge, 70, of Pitt County, died March 26, 2018. He was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late George A. Etheridge, Jr. and Estelle C. Etheridge. He attended Trinity Episcopal Church, graduated from Cradock H.S. in 1967 and was an Eagle Scout. He received an associate degree from Chowan College and a B.S. degree in Industrial Graphic Arts from Arkansas State University. He worked in the printing and newspaper business in Hampton Roads, Virginia. He later moved to North Carolina and lived in Bethel, Farmville and Washington, where he worked at Lowe’s. He also volunteered for a decade at the hospital in Greenville after becoming disabled. George is survived by his son, Johnathan Sinclair Etheridge, of Portsmouth, Virginia, and sisters, Anna Etheridge Sizemore, of Washington, Frances Etheridge Nance, of Newport, and Sarah Christine Cargill of

Sharpsburg, Maryland.

George’s memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2018, in Brown Chapel in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Washington, with Rev. Jim Reed officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church.
