Elizabeth City woman charged with drug violations in Tyrrell

An Elizabeth City woman was charged with two felonies and six misdemeanor violations in Tyrrell County on April 8, Sheriff Darryl Liverman reported.
At 9:47 p.m. a Tyrrell County deputy stopped a person for speeding 90 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone on U.S. 64 east of Columbia.
The officer smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and as a result conducted a search of the vehicle.
The search yielded 11.3 grams of marijuana, 5.0 grams of powder cocaine in 16 individual baggies, and 2.1 grams of crack cocaine in 7 individual baggies.
The driver of the vehicle, Tanisha Brickhouse, 28, of
Elizabeth City, was charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for the sale of a controlled substance, speeding 90 mph in a 55 mph zone, careless and reckless driving, driving while license revoked, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Brickhouse was placed in the Dare County Detention Center on a $32,000 secured bond.
