Fourteen Columbia Early College High School students expressed interest in criminal justice careers when they met here with a Beaufort County Community College instructor April 18, Dr. Will Hoffman, superintendent, stated.

Crystal Watts, Lead Criminal Justice Instructor from BCCC, also toured the local campus.

Students learned the requirements for an associate degree in criminal justice, criminal justice technology diploma, and the various criminal justice technology certificates BCCC offers, such as basics of criminal justice, corrections, Transfer, and Essential Police Operations.

Watts shared the wide array of careers, job outlooks, and salary ranges and finished with a Q&A session.

Students expressed interests ranging from being a deputy sheriff, marine patrol, highway patrol, or wildlife officer, to federal agent — all of which a degree or classes from BCCC can lead to.
