May 8 voting places identified

Early voting is becoming more popular in Tyrrell County.
As of midday Friday, April 27, 173 voters had cast their ballots in the party primaries and school board election.
Approximately 800 of Tyrrell’s 2,442 registered voters marked ballots in the 2016 primary, which was a presidential election year.
The early voting period is scheduled to last through 1 p.m., May 5, in the elections office in the courthouse, 403 Main Street.
Voting on Election Day, May 8, will be in the usual precinct polling places:
- Alligator: Alligator Fire Station, 9720 Sound Side Road.
- Columbia: Tyrrell Hall, 906 US Highway 64 East.
- Gum Neck: Gum Neck Fire Station, 2950 North Gum Neck Road.
- Kilkenny: Nazareth Church of Christ, 21684 NC Highway 94 South.
- Scuppernong: Eastern 4-H Center, 100 North Clover Way.
- South Fork: Eastern 4-H Center, 100 North Clover Way.
